Meet The Owners
James and Johnathan Tingley are lifelong Alaskans, born and raised in the heart of Homer, Alaska. Surrounded by the rugged beauty of the Kenai Peninsula, their love for the ocean and rivers began at an early age. With saltwater in their veins and a deep-rooted connection to Alaska’s wild landscapes, it was only natural for them to build a life—and a business—centered around adventure on its pristine waters.
Driven by a passion for exploration and a lifetime of backcountry experience, the Tingley brothers founded Homer Adventure Packrafting to share the magic of Alaska with others. Whether it’s navigating a remote glacial river or floating through untouched wilderness, they believe every journey should inspire awe and respect for the land.
Safety is at the core of every adventure they offer. Both James and Johnathan are certified Wilderness First Responders and hold Swiftwater Rescue credentials. They stay actively connected to the latest in safety techniques and rescue training, ensuring that every guest is in capable, confident hands—no matter how remote the journey.
As proud stewards of the environment, the Tingleys are deeply committed to preserving Alaska’s natural beauty for generations to come. Through low-impact practices, education, and a genuine love for the places they explore, they aim to protect the wilderness that fuels their spirit of adventure.
For Johnathan, that commitment runs even deeper—as a father, he hopes to pass not only the family business down to the next generation, but also the same deep respect for Alaska’s wild spaces that shaped his own life.
